Care that does not stop at the clinic door
For veterinarians who prescribe, follow up and consult remotely. What urVetMD does today, and what it does not do yet.
Prescribing, checked at the point of prescribing
Only a veterinarian can prescribe. Dosage, frequency, route, duration and refills are recorded on the prescription, and the veterinarian–client–patient relationship (VCPR) is checked when you prescribe, not afterwards.
VCPR is checked against the individual veterinarian and the animal. It is never assumed because the animal has been seen at your clinic.
Video consultations on the same record
Video consultations include record sharing and are documented to the animal’s timeline with the same SOAP structure as an in-clinic visit. Reading or writing the record during a consult meets the same ownership-or-VCPR standard as any other clinical entry. Telehealth billing is tied to the consult.
Care plans with check-ins
Attach home-care instructions to a prescription. The owner checks in from home, and you decide how urgently a concerning report reaches you.
Inventory and controlled substances
Stock is tracked by lot and expiration date. Dispensing and waste are logged with a mandatory witness, and you cannot witness your own entry.
Not available yet
Federal electronic prescribing of controlled substances (DEA Schedule II–V, with state PDMP reporting) is not available. It depends on federal licensing and is a later milestone.
Questions
Can urVetMD e-prescribe controlled substances?
Not yet. Federal e-prescribing of Schedule II–V drugs with PDMP reporting is a later milestone that depends on federal licensing.
Is a telehealth consult held to a different standard?
No. Reading or writing the record during a consult meets the same ownership-or-VCPR standard as any other clinical entry.
Who can witness a controlled-drug entry?
Another member of staff. You cannot witness your own dispensing or waste entry.
